In short? I’m a human being with a profound love of writing, animals, feminism, music, video games, swimming, yoga, and just about every form of self-care imaginable.
I grew up in Cape Breton and until recently I had lived in the Maritimes my whole life. In my early years, I was a bit of a professional student, and as such I’ve got a couple of degrees in English and Sociology. I spent some time post-university doing research work primarily in the field of health and education before realizing that it wasn’t my thing.
So, in an effort to pursue a life that was more meaningful and less likely to inspire daily complaints, I sought out employment in communications. For almost seven years I worked in the not-for-profit arts sector, writing, editing, and designing a bunch of cool stuff, not to mention attending some of the greatest concerts of my life.
After the death of my father in early 2018, I had a painful and visceral reminder that life is short and we don’t have unlimited opportunities to pursue our dreams. So I decided to quit my job and leave my home to travel around Europe and the U.K. with my phenomenally patient and tremendously talented partner Matt.
I hope you enjoy my blog! Because I like it. And not to brag or anything, but my mom thinks it’s pretty cool as well.*
